Imposter Syndrome: We’ve All Been There

An article we saw recently in Harvard Business Review resonated with us this week. The article is about “Mentoring Someone with Imposter Syndrome.” This has some great tips for mentoring those who have bouts of feeling as though they are sometimes “imposters.” Imposters, despite others’ reception of their work, struggle with feeling inadequate or as if they lack qualification, most often in the workplace.

Besides the direct intent of the article, this article is a good reminder for all of us. Who among us hasn’t felt this way at one point or another? When you’re experiencing these moments of self-doubt, reach out to a friend or colleague. Chances are they’ve been there themselves and will reflect back to you in the same ways this article suggests. Down the road you’ll be able to return the favor.
