26 Jan CHIP Funding Extended for Six Years
The President signed off on a bill that was passed by Congress earlier this week, “re-opening” the government and providing a short-term funding solution. Included in this bill, was a six-year extension of federal funding for the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).
This is great news for patients who were growing concerned about their coverage as the resources in many states for this program were quickly depleting without continued federal funding. This will also give peace of mind to the providers who treat these patients, knowing they will not need to shoulder the cost of care for these patients in the absence of timely, reliable reimbursement.
The Kaiser Family Foundation put together an excellent summary of the details behind the CHIP funding extension. You can read more about it here.
